Governor Jennifer M. Granholm supports state employee recognition and places it as a high priority for her agenda each year. This year, the agenda calls for expressing appreciation in various ways throughout the entire year. State wide, employees may take advantage of reduced ticket prices for special recognition day games by three of the state's minor league baseball teams, a free weekend at state parks, special ticket prices at multiple concert venues, and store and shopping center discounts. The Governor is making special efforts this year to communicate with employees through e-mails messages, web casts and meetings because of the extraordinary budget issues facing Michigan.

State department directors are also hosting special events for their employees. The executives will serve breakfast, scoop ice cream or provide hot dog lunches to employees in numerous departments. The Department of Corrections co-sponsors a Corrections Office of the Year banquet with the union representing officers. Department directors send e-mail messages to employees emphasizing the noble work of public service and thanking employees for their daily efforts and great work, and offering special recognition for years of service or significant contributions.

Michigan dedicates a web page to State Employees.
